Frequently Asked Questions

What is your rate?

My rate is $180 per 50-minute session

What if I can’t afford your rate? Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots. If you don’t think you are able to afford my full rate, please let me know.

Do you take Insurance?

I do not participate in any insurance plans. Paying out-of-pocket is a great option for folx who want maximum privacy, confidentiality, and flexibility.

Can I use out-of-network benefits?

Many insurance companies give out-of-network reimbursements for mental health services. I encourage you to check with your insurance provider to understand what reimbursement options may be available. I am happy to provide you with a monthly superbill (an itemized receipt of services) as needed.

What will be covered in the 15-minute Consult Call?

The call is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have for me, my approach as a therapist and what it is like  to work with me. I will ask about why you are seeking therapy at this time as well as talk about rates and availability.

Are you doing in person sessions?

I only provide teletherapy appointments. Sessions are conducted through a HIPPA secured video.

How often will we meet?

I meet with the majority of my clients on a weekly basis. I have seen that progress is best made when we are able to meet consistently. As we continue to work together we may make changes to the frequency to meet your specific needs.

What is the Good Faith Estimate?

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

I am currently not accepting new clients at this time. Please visit Inclusive therapists and Therapy Den to find a therapist in your area.

Testimonials

“Alison is an extremely professional, experienced, and intentional therapist who brings an anti-racist lens into her practice. While working on a project for work, we knew we needed to bring in the expertise of a trauma-informed therapist who had plenty of experience working within youth development. She shared such valuable information about the grieving process and some general best practices for supporting people who are in the midst of healing from a traumatic experience. Following our call, she also shared additional mental health and wellness resources that we found to be thoughtfully curated. Alison’s expertise had a positive impact on our team. I highly recommend Alison and cannot express enough gratitude for her support!”-Alysha E.

“As a facilitator, Alison creates a safe and inclusive space for her audience. She has a wealth of knowledge to share on the many mental health challenges that educators face both systematically and individually.”-Marshai I.

"Alison is someone who walks the talk when it comes to striking the balance between leading with empathy and delivering results. I turned to Alison for support on a project with dual impact - we needed assessment criteria to improve our admissions criteria for potential customers while simultaneously providing insights on current customers' mental and emotional states as it pertains to their readiness for our accelerators curriculum. She was masterful in using her clinical background to propose a programmatic solution to create systemic change which resulted in a better understanding of our services' impacts on clients. Anyone who is lucky enough to work with Alison, as one of her clients, or co-workers, will immediately pick up on what I'm expressing here." -Joshua E
